Fitzroy Garden

Blogging time has changed to Australian Time

It has been 3 days since I left Malaysia. I miss all my family and friends already. Sorry guys, I can't call all the time. It is quite exspensive here. About $2.50per minute or something. I got my mobile phone (a prepaid) from Vodaphone. Selina told me about the services before I came. Was quite prepared for it but some plans and terms had changed (according to friends who are still here and locals). So I had to opt for an prepaid! It's really cool... You topup for $30 and you get 60sms free and 1000min talk time free when you call the same company no. Email me if you want my AUS number eh ... Don't wanna disclose it here :)

We went shopping today. Everyone woke up late. Must be the wonderful weather! It was so chilling. Comfortable as hell. Beginning to get used to the place. No longer wear the thick jacket when I go out. The shops open at reasonable hours thou. Not everyshop closes early in CBD. Some open till bout 11pm. Things get really cheap (especially food) after 10pm! Hehe

The weather here indeed changes within a day. You can get all 4 season within a day! Grace is still having her migraine because of that. Poor girl*** As for Eva, she is so in love with the place! Who wouldnn't be?

We walked around town today ... doing all things. The main location we loved was Fitzroy Garden. It is HUGE! Massive! It's at least 3 blocks huge. It is not an ordinary garden. The trees are like huge. Try hugging any tree in there. You will at least need 2-4 people to wrap around the trunk! There are like people gathering around the park having light lunch/dinner(picnics) people walking their dog, cycling around and the most extra-odinary (to us which we think is a normal thing to have for the locals) are weddings! Yeah! WEDDINGS! Their garden wedding is tremendously beautiful! Grace and Eva was shocked and a lil jealous of the bride! hehe

The dogs around here are like huge too! I am beginning to think we are just relatively small in everything :p Anyway, the dogs are beautiful and they let them run loose. There was a huge Rottweiler running around the garden and he is so tame and friendly! See, dogs can be trained. They are not vicious. Malaysia make dogs sound so horrible. Sigh*

Then we saw this montage of tiles on the floor. It was like a size of a brick (for each design) and people write messages, draw, craft or punch holes in it to look like somesort of design. And the tiles are place around a circle (somewhere at the north side of the park). Its very meaningful and awesome. We were so touched to see some of the messages and laugh at some of the really wacky design!

As we fenture deep into the gardenm we found couples having sex in the bushes, nah just kidding. haha. There was this garden concert for kids aged5-10 in the middle of the park. There were at least300-500people gathering around it. Everyone there brought picnic basket, mats and food. They just lay around the park and let the live performance entertain their kids. It was so much fun. We stayed till late. It was bout 9pm and the party was still wild and hot! Again, the party was for children but the music was so much fun! We had a great time. Awesome!

Then we left the place for about 20min before noticing that one of Grace's shopping bag was missing. As we ran back, our heart pounded hard with worries. I was scared the most not because I lost the bag but because my Zara jacket jac was in it. I ran everywhere and the girls return to the concert (which was still packet and the admission is free!) to look for it. We didnt find it at first but found it at the lost and found counter. Someone returned it.

SOMEONE ACTUALLY RETURNED IT!

It was a happy day for everyone. Return late and we chated all night long. The girls are still in bed. I was awake - craving for the free breakfast and cereals Greenhouse have every morning!
Am going to Victoria Market, Mt Waverley (to meet Ayesha) and a Gay & Lesbian carnival later at a nearby park! Woo hoo! Who said Australia was boring???
